Canberra/Bhubaneswar: The Odia Society in Australia, “Orioz” has recently hosted Akshaya Mohanty evening.
The memorial tribute, which was held online under the title “Jajabara” featured 35 popular songs of the legendary Odia musician, the late Akshaya Mohanty. This innovative presentation, prepared by the cultural committee of “Orioz”, was attended by Odias living in different cities of Australia.
These “milestone” songs, composed and sung by “Khoka Bhai” based on the customs, folklore and festivals of Odisha, were accurately and vividly portrayed by the artists of “Orioz” in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and the rest of the world.
Sulipta Tripathi, the cultural organiser of “Orioz”, was instrumental in arranging this three-hour live music show.
Addressing the web gathering, Dr Nalini Pati, president of “Orioz”, who is currently on a visit to Bhubaneswar, said that Odias living in Australia, which is far away from Odisha, have maintained their cultural, social and emotional ties with their motherland.
