Musical Programmes To Continue Till Midnight During Durga Puja In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a good news for revellers during Dussehra in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has decided to allow the musical programmes to continue till midnight.

The Commissionerate Police held a meeting with representatives of community puja committees on the preparations for the Durga Puja in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. It was revealed at the meeting that the muiscal programmes including orchestra, melody, DJ shows and others would be allowed till midnight on all three days of the Durga Puja, sources said.

So far, the police have been restricting such programmes till 10 pm in the city due to security point of view. The police extended the timing following request from the puja organisers.

Security Measures

Speaking to media after the meeting, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said they were taking strict measures to maintain law and order and prevent crimes during the puja days.

As part of the measures, the police are keeping a close watch on the people coming from outside the city and the state also. Strict instructions have been issued to all police stations in this regard, he added.

A list of habitual offenders, criminals and those issued Non-bailable Warrants (NBWs) have been drawn up and issued to the police stations. Policemen in plain clothes will be deployed at puja pandals to prevent illegal activities and safeguard the security of the visitors.

Singh further said CCTV cameras installed across the city will be monitored from the central monitoring centre to keep watch on the pandals and the visitors. Besides, police would interact with the members of the associations of the apartments to ensure security in their areas and personnel of Police Control Room (PCR) vans deployed in residential areas, he added.
