Bhubaneswar: Mutilated bodies of a married couple were recovered from the railway tracks in Bomikhal area in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The deceased, who reportedly hailed from Kandarpur area of Cuttack district, stayed in Sahntipalli slum in Odisha capital. The man was reportedly working as a wage labourer.

The mutilated bodies lying on the tracks were spotted by some local residents this morning. They informed the police about the incident.

On being informed, a team of Government Railway Police (GRP) visited the site and recovered the bodies which were sent for post-mortem. They have launched an investigation into the incident.

While the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the two took the extreme step of ending their lives after a family dispute.

According to neighbours, a heated exchange of words took place between the two last night.

While the local residents suspected financial problems to be the reason behind the extreme step, the police said investigation is underway.
