Sambalpur: Mutilated bodies of a young couple were found on train track near Hirakud railway station in the district on Thursday morning.
According to sources, some local people found the bodies of a young man and a girl on the railway track under Katapali overbridge near Hirakud station.
On being informed, the Government Railway Police (GRP) went to the spot and seized the bodies. Later, they sent the bodies for post-mortem.
The identity of the deceased have not been ascertained from preliminary investigation as their bodies were badly mutilated.
The police suspected it to be a suicide case though they said the circumstances that led to their death would be known after confirming their identity on the basis of post-mortem report and further investigation.
