Berhampur: Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the mutilated body of the wife of a police officer from the railway tracks at Gopalpur in Ganjam district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Sushama Pradhan, the wife of Gajapati district DSP Anil Kumar Pradhan.
According to reports, the DSP’s family resides at Khadasing near Baidyanathapur on the outskirts of Berhampur.
On Wednesday morning, the DSP had gone to Gajapati to attend his duty leaving his wife and son at home. In the evening, his son had gone to the market while Sushama had gone to the Hanuman temple.
But when she did not return, the DSP’s son and relatives led a search for her. They found her mutilated body on the railway tracks around 11 pm. Following information, GRP personnel reached the spot and recovered the body.
However, the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
