Puri: The Puri district administration on Sunday served notices on shop-owners near Bada Danda here, asking them to vacate the shops by 1 pm on Monday.
All shops within 75 metre radius of the temple will be demolished to ensure safety and security of the 12th century shrine in accordance with the recommendations of Justice BP Das Commission of Inquiry.
The district administration officials and police also went to the shops and informed about the same on Sunday.
Along with these shops, Languli Mutt, Raghunandan library and Emara Mutt will also be demolished.
Notably, Languli mutt is very close to Jagannath Temple. It houses 24 shops. The Mahanta of Languli Mutt has reportedly agreed with the conditions of the district administration.
Likewise, Raghunandan Library situated on the first floor of Emar Mutt will also be demolished. The oldest library will be shifted to Bagadia Dharmasala temporarily.
Many rare and oldest books are available in the library.
