Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday said his government is committed not only to the cause of justice, but also justice at the doorstep for the people of Odisha.
“Judiciary, which is one of the three important pillars of our democracy, plays an important role in upholding the rule of law. Sub-ordinate judiciary also has its own crucial role in the justice delivery system,” Naveen said at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a judicial court complex by the Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra here.
Among others, Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court Vineet Saran was present.
The Chief Minister said during the last four years the state government has set up more than 170 courts. During this year, the state government has decided to set up 50 more courts, including family courts and additional district judge courts. Besides, three commercial courts have been set up to create an investor-friendly atmosphere in the state, he added.
Naveen said as a part of access to justice by the poor the state government is regularly making provisions for adequate judicial infrastructure. As a result, basic court infrastructure has improved substantially over the past few years.
Stating that the dream project of a court complex in Bhubaneswar has finally come true, the Chief Minister congratulated the lawyers present and sought cooperation from everybody for timely completion of the new judicial project.
Prior to laying the foundation stone of the judicial complex, the Chief Justice of India inaugurated an arbitration and mediation centre of the Orissa High Court near Raj Mahal Square in Unit-1 here.
