Bhubaneswar: Two days after revealing her same-sex relationship, ace woman sprinter Dutee Chand on Tuesday came out in the open saying that her mother and elder sister are trying to malign her.
“Why did my mother and elder sister Saraswati bring such allegations against me when my father and four other sisters remained silent? The fact is that my elder sister used to blackmail me every now and then and threaten to tarnish my image. I have done my duty as a member of my family. I have constructed a three-storey building in my village and given a vehicle to my elder sister,” Dutee told mediapersons here.
She also made it clear that she would take legal recourse against those who had defamed her. “I will not spare anyone, no matter who it is, even if he/she is my blood relation, as I have made up my mind to take legal action against them,” she said.
Terming Dutee’s allegation as baseless, Saraswati said everyone knows the truth. What Dutee has briefed the media today is not her own version. “Some people with vested interest have coaxed her to give such a statement. The media has done its job. Let our family matters remain private and Dutee should not be dragged into such nasty politics. She should concentrate on her sporting career,” she pointed out.
