Mysterious 80 Kg Iron Object Found On Odisha Beach

Berhampur: A large and heavy iron object weighing around 80 kilograms was sighted on the shoreline of Bateswar beach in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday.

As per sources, the mysterious object is stated to be nearly seven feet in height and around 2.5 feet in width. Marked with the code ‘AMS-6’, the iron object is believed to be some debris from a cargo ship.

After spotting the object, Forest department officials with the help of Indian Coast Guard (ICG)) have secured it.

Preliminary investigation suggest that the object might have got dislodged during a collision involving cargo vessels or in the course of loading operations. Thereafter, it possibly drifted to the beach under the influence of sea current.

Local Forest department, Coast Guard, and police authorities are yet to make any formal statement on the matter.

It may be noted that several such objects were also found on the beaches in Odisha in the past.

A mysterious container which washed ashore at famous Puri beach had grabbed the eyeballs as hundreds of locals rushed to get a glance of it. Some fishermen had spotted the container and alerted the district administration.

Marine police and officials of the Forest Department were then deployed to guard the container.

This apart, two containers of a sunken cargo ship ‘MV IIT Puma’ were washed ashore at Satabhaya under Rajnagar police limits in Kendrapada district.
