Mysterious Death Of Rourkela Steel Plant Employee

Rourkela: An employee of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) died after he was found in a critical condition inside a tunnel of the Steel Melting Shop 2 (SMS) department under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased, identified as A Baxla (56), was a regular employee of the RSP.

The incident took place on Saturday evening after Baxla had gone to the tunnel of the basic oxygen furnace section of SMS-2 to evacuate water, sources said.

As he did not return after two hours, his coworkers went to search for him and found Baxla lying unconscious in the tunnel. He was rushed to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) where doctors declared him dead during treatment.

While the exact cause of Baxla’s death is yet to be ascertained, the autopsy report is awaited.

Meanwhile, the RSP management on Sunday handed over a written offer for compassionate employment to the daughter of the deceased.
