New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday admitted that the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s personal assistant had allegedly “misbehaved” with former Delhi Commission of Women chairperson Swati Maliwal at his residence.
The party also said Kejriwal has taken note of the matter and will take appropriate action against the person.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh admitted that the misbehaviour allegedly took place in Arvind Kejriwal’s drawing room. “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Bibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action,” he told PTI.
Delhi Police had on Monday informed media that Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal had calls to the PCR alleging that she was assaulted by the Delhi CM’s PA Bibhav Kumar. She also reportedly went to the Civil Lines police station but didn’t lodge an official complaint.
While AAP maintained a studied silence on the incident, many BJP leaders including the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Delhi Bansuri Swaraj had condemned the incident
“We got a shameful news today that after getting instigated by Arvind Kejriwal, his OSD has beaten and misbehaved with their party’s MP Swati Maliwal. She also made a call to Delhi Police and complained regarding the same. The incident took place in the presence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. BJP strongly condemns this incident,” BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Delhi Bansuri Swaraj told ANI.
