Manali: Veer Soren (22), grandson of former Jharkhand chief minister and BJP leader Champai Soren died under mysterious circumstances at a hotel in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday.
The youngster was on a vacation with friends and had visited the Solang Valley and Sethan before his death.
Veer, the son of Champai’s son Babu Lal Soren, had arrived in Manali with his friends on February 22 and was staying at a private hotel in Simsa. On Monday, the group explored Solang Valley and Hamta Pass, before returning to their hotel in the evening, as reported by Mint.
His friends found Veer asleep on Tuesday. The youth seemed unwell. After waking up, he complained of a severe headache. His friends gave him medicine, which he took before going back to sleep.
Around 2.30 pm, a loud noise was heard from the room, and Veer was found lying on the floor. His friends rushed him to the Civil Hospital Manali, where he was declared dead on arrival. Veer had started foaming at the mouth during the journey to the hospital, hospital staff reported.
While there were no external injury marks on the body, the police are awaiting the post mortem report. An investigation has been launched and a forensics team has collected samples from the room in which Veer was staying.
Champai has been informed and is on his way to Manali.
Some believe that Veer suffered from high altitude sickness, as he had visited areas with high elevations during his trip without proper acclimatisation. The police are, however, looking into all angles.
