Mystery Shrouds Death Of Two Married Women In Odisha

Cuttack/Bargarh: Two married women were allegedly killed at their in-law’s places in separate incidents in Odisha. Police have initiated probes into both the cases no arrest has been made so far.

The two deceased have been identified as Tulasi Rout of Banamalipur village in Cuttack district, and Chandrakanti Sahoo of Jankeda village in Bargarh district.

According to reports, Tulasi was married to Santosh Jena of Banamalipur village last year. But on Saturday, Tulasi’s father Susant filed a case at Tigiria police station alleging his daughter was murdered by her in-laws, since she was opposing her husband’s alleged extra marital affair with his sister-in-law.

Rout said, he was informed by her daughter’s in-laws that she was unwell. When he reached their place, to his utter surprise he found Tulasi dead. But when he marked a scar on her neck, he was suspicious that Tulasi was murdered.

Tulasi’s mother Arati echoed her husband’s voice adding, “After marriage, my daughter was repeatedly tortured by her husband because she opposed his extra-marital affair with his sister-in-law. In a bid to get a relief from her they killed our daughter.”

Police sources confirmed that a case has been filed by the deceased’s father Susant Rout alleging that her husband’s family members killed her. The body has been sent for post mortem and after the post mortem report is received, they can proceed further.

Similarly, the death of Chandrakanti Sahoo of Jankeda village in Bargarh district too was shrouded in mystery. She was is suspected to have been killed by her husband Ram Sahoo two days back owing to a family dispute.

Her body was seized by Gaisilet police after locals informed them about her death. The cut mark on her throat and blood clots around her neck suggested she was murdered with a sharp weapon. Her husband Ram Sahoo was reported to be missing since the incident, police said.
