Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch, investigating the murder of Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das, has sent 22 pieces of papers having writing of the accused Gopal Das to Handwriting Bureau for examination and opinion.
According to a release of the Crime Branch, those pieces of torn papers were recovered from the septic tank of the Airport police station at Jharsuguda, where Gopal was detained. The accused has admitted the handwriting on the papers was his own. Some handwritten and printed document and diaries were seized during searches in the locked official quarters and office desk of the accused at Gandhi Chhak police outpost.
The documents recovered from Gopal’s paternal house at Industrial Estate, Berhampur and government quarters at Jharsuguda are being scrutinised. The financial details of the dismissed ASI, his wife, brother and other close relatives are also being collected by a team of CB.
Forensic Psychological Assessment and LVA Test of Gopal is being conducted by the team of CFSL, New Delhi at Jharsuguda. A special Medical Board has been constituted to study his mental health, the release said.
Meanwhile, Gopal was produced in the Court of JMFC, Jharsuguda after completion of first 4-day remand period. The court has allowed the Crime Branch to take him on further remand of 4 days.
