Jharsuguda: The additional district judge (ADJ) court in Jharsuguda on Saturday recorded the statement of an eyewitness in the murder of Odisha’s former health minister Naba Kishore Das.
Speaking to media after the proceeding of the court, Naresh Nayak, the advocate of accused in the murder Gopal Das, said the ADJ court recorded the statement of eyewitness Amarendra Nath for second time.
The statements of Nath, who belongs to Lamtibahal in Brajrajnagar in the district, were earlier recorded soon after the former minister’s murder. During comparison of Nath’s earlier statement and the one made on the day, the court found several discrepancies, Nayak said.
Gopal was also present during the proceeding of the court through virtual mode.
Naba Das was allegedly shot to dead by Hopal while the former was on his way to attend a programme on January 29, 2023. Gopal, who was an ASI at the time, fired at the former minister from a close range with his service revolver. Naba Das succumbed during treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar the same day.
