Naba Kumar Nayak
Bhubaneswar: Former bureaucrat Naba Kumar Nayak was appointed the State Election Commissioner (SEC), ahead of the urban local body elections due in November, 2018. He will replace Rabi Narayan Senapati, official sources said on Sunday.
The Odisha government is likely to publish the official notification in this regard on Monday, sources added.
A retired IAS officer, Nayak, who was member and chairman in-charge of Staff Selection Commission, has long administrative experience including election management and served in various capacities. He has served as Odisha’s joint chief electoral officer, collector of Puri and Mayurbhanj districts and deputy relief commissioner.
Senapati, a retired IAS officer, had joined as SEC in August, 2014, and turned 65 years (the age of superannuation) in November, 2017. However, he has been continuing in the post because his replacement had not been selected.
