Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) has called for a 12-hour Odisha Bandh on February 21 to protest against the alleged gross apathy of the state government towards the farming community.
The bandh has been called on the day when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to address a massive farmers convention at Sohela in Bargarh to announce benefits under KALIA scheme.
Announcing this at a press briefing here on Wednesday, national convener of the Sangathan Akshaya Kumar said the state government has deprived the farmers of their right to speech and freedom.
“We have requested political parties, think-tanks, traders’ associations and the bus and truck owners’ associations to support our cause and make the bandh successful,” he added.
