Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced Rs 3 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of three persons who died in a car accident in Nabarangpur district on Friday morning.
The chief minister expressed deep grief over the death of three people in the accident that took place on Umerkote-Jharigaon main road of the district.
Extending his condolences to the bereaved families, he announced the ex gratia. He also directed the district officials to provide free medical treatment to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
The accident took place while the occupants of the car were returning home after attending a wedding at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh at around 1 am. The three persons died on the spot and a woman sustained serious injuries under the impact of the collision.
On being informed, Umerkote police along with the fire services personnel rushed to the spot and admitted the grievously injured woman, Swaralata Bepari, to a local hospital. She was later shifted to Nabarangpur district headquarters hospital.
