Bhubaneswar: In a sudden move, Nabarangpur MP from BJD Balabhadra Majhi on Thursday resigned from the primary membership of the party.
Talking to the media here, Majhi said he had gone to Naveen Niwas this morning to meet the Chief Minister. Since he could not meet him, he handed over the resignation letter to political secretary of the Chief Minister Gopabandhu Dash.
Asked about the reason for his resignation, Majhi said going by the attitude of the party leadership, he felt that his services were no longer required.
Asked whether he had decided to join any other party, Majhi said he would take a decision to this effect very soon.
A former employee of the Indian Railways, Majhi was offered the BJD ticket to contest the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituency in 2014.
Sources in the BJD said that the party leadership is keen to field SC and SC Development minister Ramesh Majhi from Nabarangpur constituency this time.
