Puri: A Naga Sadhu was detained by the Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) here for allegedly violating the COVID-19 regulations inside the temple on Sunday.
According to police sources, the sadhu, identified as Vaishnav Puri, took some devotees to have darshan of ‘Rohini Kunda’ which has been closed for COVID-19 restrictions. When the JTP personnel present at the spot told him to refrain from taking the devotees to the restricted area, he misbehaved with them, they added.
But the sadhu alleged that when he was showing the ‘Rohini Kunda’ to the devotees, the JTP personnel assaulted him. They also kept him confined in the store room, he added.
The JTP refuted the allegation of assault on the sadhu who has been admitted in the district headquarters hospital, here.
It may be noted that the news about the sadhu claiming himself to be a news reporter by showing his identity card had gone viral on the social media recently.
