New York: World No. 3 Dominic Thiem was too strong for Sumit Nagal, beating the top Indian player 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of the US Open in New York on Thursday.
The young Indian had impressed many with his four-set win over American Klahn in the opening round to record his maiden Grand Slam victory. Nagal also became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam singles main draw match.
But against Thiem, he came up short and lost in straight sets at the showcourt Arthur Ashe stadium.
