Hyderabad: Veteran actor Nagarjuna was left fuming after Congress leader and Telangana minister Konda Surekha alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao played a role in the break-up of his son Naga Chaitanya with actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Nagarjuna asked the minister to withdraw the “completely irrelevant and false” comments and told her to respect people’s privacy.
“I strongly condemn the comments of the honourable minister, Mrs Konda Surekha. Don’t use the lives of film stars who stay away from politics to criticise your opponents. Please respect other people’s privacy,” Nagarjuna said in a tweet in Telugu.
“As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately,” Nagarjuna added.
In a video which went viral on social media, Surekha was heard accusing KTR of interfering in celebrities’ personal lives and also being involved in drug-related controversies.
Surekha further claimed that a number of actresses had to leave the industry due to KTR’s influence.
“Many heroines have married quickly and exited the cinema field because of KTR’s impact on their lives,” Surekha told newspersons at an event.
“KTR took drugs, got people habituated, and organised rave parties. He played with their lives and used these situations to blackmail them. Everyone knows this,” she claimed.
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha announced their separation in October 2021 after four years of marriage. Recently, Naga Chaitanya got engaged to another actress Sobhita Dhulipala.
