Nagpur Private Hospital Blaze Claims Four Lives

Mumbai: Four persons died and some others suffered injuries after a fire broke out in a private hospital at Nagpur in Maharashtra around 8.10 pm on Friday night.

“The fire reportedly started from an AC unit of the ICU located on the second floor of the hospital. The blaze remained confined to that floor and did not spread further,” Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) chief fire officer Rajendra Uchke told the media.

Six of the 10 patients on the floor came out on their own and the remaining four were rescued by the fire brigade personnel, while 18 staff members had a miraculous escape.

According to Mumbai Mirror, around 27 patients were shifted to other hospitals.

“Three dead bodies have been brought to Government Medical College & Hospital,” Medical Superintendent, GMC, Nagpur, Dr Avinash Gawande told the media.

Notably, nine COVID-19 patients had died in a blaze that broke out at Sunrise Hospital in Mumbai’s Bhandup last month.
