Bhubaneswar: Two wagons of a goods train derailed between Lilliguma and Bhalumaska stations in Rayagada district on Tuesday.
This is the second derailment of goods train, belonging to Nalco, in the last couple of days.
The incident occurred at 6:30 pm when the train was ferrying aluminium powder from the company’s Damanjodi plant and there was no loss of life, East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said.
Following the derailment, train traffic on Rayagada-Koraput division has been affected. While Hirakhand Express has been detained at Lakshmipur, Rourkela-Koraput Express remain stranded at Tikiri station.
Meanwhile, the ECoR has sent relief trains from Rayagada and Koraput division to spot and efforts are on to clear the tracks.
On Sunday, train traffic between Koraput and Rayagada were partially disrupted after 15 wagons of a goods train at Damanjodi railway station in Korput district. It was loaded with alumina powder belonging to Nalco.
The incident took place at Nalco’s exchange yard at around 4:20 PM when the wagons were being drawn out of the railway siding.
