Cuttack: The Odisha Student Leaders Forum (OSLF) on Saturday urged the state government to name the three-lane Trisulia-Belleview (CDA) Bridge after legendary singer and writer Akshaya Mohanty.
Addressing a press conference here, OSLF member Ajay Mishra said, “Earlier last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s longest bridge in Assam and named it after singer Bhupen Hazarika. So, the state government should take proactive steps to name the Trisulia bridge over Kathajodi after Akshay Mohanty as a mark of respect towards the legendary singer. Several of his songs were linked to Mahanadi and Kathajodi rivers as Mohanty was born in Cuttack. Renaming this bridge will be a fitting tribute to him.”
The forum has decided to submit a memorandum in this regard to the district collector on June 13, he added.
Other members of the forum Badri Mohanty, Deepak Nayak, Jagdish Patra, Manoj Sahoo, Rina Routray, Sachinandan Nayak, Surya Kanta Padhi, Biswajit Suryabanshi, Santosh Das, Arun Sahoo, Saroj Satpathy and Himanshu Lenka were present.
