Nandankanan Receives 6000 ‘Save Binny’ Emails

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) authorities here have received 6,000 emails, recommending special treatment for the only orangutan in India named Binny.

The zoo inmate has been suffering from a pouch wound in her throat since a long time.

A chaitable organisation Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID) is running a campaign, urging the zoo authorities to provide her special treatment.

Co-founder of the charitable organisation Sara Fell Hicks informed that 6,000 emails have been sent to Nandankanan authorities and they hope that they will take immediate action.

She also urged people to share the post to put pressure on the zoo authorities to allow international veterinary professionals to help the 41-year-old orangutan.

Notably, Binny was brought to Nandankanan from Pune’s Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park on November 20, 2003, when she was only 25 years old. She was earlier brought to India from Singapore.
