Bhubaneswar: The number of visitors to Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) near Bhubaneswar till February-end in financial year 2022-23 has crossed the previous record.
The zoo registered 34 lakh visitors from April 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. In a tweet on its official handle, the zoo said, “Visitors number of Nandankanan Zoo in this financial year from April 1, 2022 crossed 34 lakh on February 28, 2023 which is highest in history.”
According to sources, Nandankanan may set a record of 37 lakh visitors by the end of 2022-23 financial year. The last highest footfall of 32 lakh was recorded in the zoo in 2017-18 financial year. It was followed by 31 lakh in 2018-19, 26 lakh in 2019-20 and 14 lakh in 2021-22 fiscal, they added.
The zoo recorded all-time highest footfall on the Christmas Day of 2022 when 46,148 people visited it.
