New Delhi: Has Ekagrah Rohan Murthy just become the richest infant in the world?
Ekagrah, the four-month-old grandson of NR Narayana Murthy, has been gifted Infosys shares worth over Rs 240 crore by the co-founder of the global leader in digital services and consulting.
A stock exchange filing has revealed that Ekagrah owns 15,00,000 shares of Infosys, which amounts to a 0.04 per cent stake in the company. The transaction was conducted ‘off market’, according to the filing.
Following the gift to his grandson, Murthy’s holding in the tech company dropped from 0.40 per cent to 0.36 per cent, that is, 1.51 crore shares.
Ekagrah, born in November 2023 to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, is the Murthy’s third grandchild. Narayan and Sudha Murthy are also grandparents to two daughters of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The name Ekagrah was reportedly inspired by Arjun’s character in Mahabharata. The Sanskrit word ‘Ekagrah’ means unwavering focus and determination.
