Former Gujarat Chief Minister Modi was sworn in as India’s 14th Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, after the NDA swept the general elections with BJP winning a majority of seats (282) on its own.

The BJP did even better in the 2019 elections, bagging 303 seats, as Modi won a second term. He has been in the hot for 6 years and 79 days till date.

He’s now the fourth-longest serving Indian PM.

The late Jawaharlal Nehru (16 years, 286 days), his daughter late Indira Gandhi (11 years, 59 days) and Manmohan Singh (10 years, 4 days) occupy the top three places.
