Balasore: Three persons had a narrow escape as their SUV caught fire while in running condition on a National Highway in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.
According to sources, the three persons were going in a Scorpio from Bhadrak to Balasore on National Highway 18 around noon. As they reached Khantapada near Bahanaga, smoke started coming out of the engine of the vehicle.
Alarmed by the smoke, all the three persons including the driver came out of the SUV and informed the Fire Brigade. Even before the Fire Brigade reached the spot, the vehicle caught fire.
By the time, the Fire personnel reached there, the entire SUV was engulfed by the flames. However, they managed to douse the fire but by the time the vehicle was totally gutted.
While the cause of the fire has not been ascertained, police have filed a case and started investigation.
