Baripada: The driver and helper of a container truck had a narrow escape after the moving vehicle caught fire at Dwarasuni Ghat on the National Highway No. 49 in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
As per reports, the fire broke out when the truck carrying goods was proceeding to Mumbai from Kolkata. The vehicle was ascending the Dwarasuni Ghat near Bangiriposhi when the incident took place.
However, the driver of the container Birpal Goswami (32) and his helper managed moved out of the vehicle to save his life.
On being informed, Bangiriposhi police and firefighters rushed to the incident site and doused the flame. A large number of passenger buses and goods trucks were stranded on the ghat road for over one hour following the incident.
While the exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests that an electrical short-circuit could be responsible for the fire.
