Jagatsinghpur: Senior leader and Lok Sabha MP from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur Bibhu Prasad Tarai had a narrow escape when a speeding vehicle rammed into his car from behind near Hajipur on National Highway 55 on Saturday.
Sources said the BJP MP was travelling from Bhubaneswar to the Nabakrushna Choudhury Stadium in Jagatsinghpur to attend a sports event when the mishap took place. While his vehicle suffered major damage, Tarai escaped unhurt.
Following the mishap, a police team from Biridi rushed to the spot and detained the driver of the vehicle that dashed against the MP’s car from behind.
While traffic on the route was disrupted for some time, the Parliamentarian continued with his schedule after the accident.
