Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace swimmer Pratyasa Ray struck gold in the Women’s 200m Backstroke event at the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The icing on the cake was the timing of 2 minutes 20.22 seconds, which is a personal best for Pratyasa, a product of Odisha IIS JSW Swimming HPC.
A day earlier, Pratyasa bagged bronze medal in Women’s 50m Backstroke event.
Competing against some of the country’s top swimmers, Pratyasa demonstrated great technique and composure to stand atop the podium.
She thus added to her collection of medals having earned laurels at national-level meets such as the National Games and Khelo India University Games.
