National Games: Odisha Clinch Gold In Kayaking, Silver In Women’s Football

Ahmedabad: Odisha claimed their first gold medal in kayaking at the National Games 2022 on Monday, and added two more bronze medals as well.

The Odisha women’s football team had to settle for silver after losing 0-2 to Manipur in the final this evening.

Bala Devi beat Odisha goalkeeper Spandita Das to give Manipur the lead in the 10th minute, before international midfielder N Ratanbala Devi made it 2-0 nine minutes before half-time.

The Crispin Chhetri-coached Odisha side went all out in the second half but a goal remained elusive.

The Odisha pair of Oinam Bidya Devi and Fulmani Xaxa finished first in the Kayaking K2 500m event.

The pair of Rasmita Sahoo and Sachima Kerketta bagged bronze in Canoeing C2 women’s 500m race, while the quartet of Roji Devi, Shruti Chougule, Bidya Devi and Fulmani Xaxa earned another bronze in Kayaking K4 women’s 500m event.
