Bhubaneswar: Magical hand-woven artistry and exquisite creations of craftsmen have been showcased in the 21st National Handloom Exhibition at the Idco Exhibition Ground in Odisha capital, attracting a large number of visitors.

Participants from 16 states have displayed their products at 215 stalls in the ongoing Expo, organised by the Odisha State Handloom Weavers Co-op Society Ltd (Boyanika), the apex society of the state for marketing handwoven items.

The Expo aims at facilitating sustainable livelihood for the weavers of the different parts of the country by providing a common platform for marketing their handloom products.

With the festive season of Durga Puja fast approaching, participants from different parts of the country in the exhibition have expressed the hope that exquisite handloom collections of Banarasi sarees, Aligarh saree and products from Kashmir and Tamilnadu would draw many visitors to their stalls.

Odisha’s Sambalpuri saree is seen as a favourite choice of visitors along with Athgarh’s Bomkai handloom.

The rush of visitors from different places in Bhubaneswar and other areas is expected ahead of the Durga Puja festival. The organisers expect a turnover of around Rs 12 crore at the exhibition this time.

The visitors are also treated to delightful cultural programmes in the evening during the ongoing exhibition where mouthwatering delicacies are available at a number of food stalls.

The exhibition remains open from 11.30 am to 9.30 pm daily and will continue till October 9.
