Howrah: National level shooter, Damayanti Sen, who went missing since Thursday afternoon, was finally traced on Saturday morning.
She has been taken back home and is safe, much to the relief of her family, friends and the shooting sports community, as reported by The Times of India.
The West Bengal government had set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to search for the 15-year-old, who was recently selected for trials to the National side.
Neither the family, nor the police, have issued any statement regarding her whereabouts over the last two days.
According to reports, she was spotted by morning walkers at the Ramkrishnapur ferry ghat in Howrah – a short distance from her home. They recognised Damayanti and informed her family. Her father Dhrubajyoti Sen arrived and took the shooter back home.
Damayanti had left home on Thursday to purchase some household items, but didn’t return.
A search was launched after the family reported the matter to the police. She was captured in surveillance camera footage twice since her disappearance from home, sources revealed.
On Thursday evening CCTV cameras picked her up as she moved between platforms four and five at the Howrah railway station.
Again on Friday afternoon, she was seen at the site of the famous rathyatra at Mahesh in Srirampur. This is in the Hooghly district of the state, adjacent to Howrah.
Four police teams were since deployed to trace her movements.
