Bhubaneswar: With an aim to spread awareness on nutritious food and balanced diet, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Odisha capital observed the National Nutrition Month.
Speaking on the concluding day of the programme on Friday, Brigadier Prof (Dr) Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal, KIMS, advised the dieticians’ team of the Institute to create awareness among public, patients and their relatives on healthy, nutritious food and how to prepare those in sanitised environment.
The National Nutrition Month, 2022 was observed in September on the theme “Celebrate a world of flavours” to encourage the people to adopt a healthy lifestyle while enjoying various flavours of food.
“Due busy schedule in everyday life, almost every individual is living a life under stress. For destressing, one needs to take good care of self, balanced and nutritious diet including adequate liquid intake,’’ said a nutritionist of KIMS.
The Department of Dietetics of KIMS also organised an exhibition of balanced and nutritious diet and prizes were distributed among the winners of the group dance and quiz competitions on the occasion.
Prof Ramachandra Das, Medical Superintendent; Prof Kabikanta Samantaray, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr Ashwini Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent; Susamma Sahu, Nursing Superintendent and Dieticians and the team comprising Santoshirani Sahoo, Sanghamitra Nayak, Sushree Tapaswini Das, Monalisa Rout, Kumari Sonam Singh and Swettalina Das of KIMS were present.
