Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal on Tuesday said the people, who are differently abled, are endowed with divine parts for which they are called ‘Divyang’.
Addressing over 2,000 athletes on second day of the Indian Oil 20th National Para Athletic Championship, 2022 organised at Kalinga Stadium, here, the Governor said ‘Divyang’ means the one with a divine body part. According to his understanding and knowledge and also the perception of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people who are differently abled are people with divine parts, he said.
“I consider them as celestial and divine beings who can rise upto any occasion and prove themselves to be in higher plane in terms of endurance and spirituality and can diffuse any crisis in the world ushering in a new order of peace,” the Governor said.
Later, he gave away medals to winners of various categories and disciplines on the occasion. They included the star of Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Yogesh Kathunia who bagged silver medal in Discuss Throw, F-56 event. He was awarded the Gold medal for the same event at national meet.
Secretary, Sports R Vineel Krishna; president, Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Deepa Malik; Chief Patron, Paralympic India, Avinash Rai Khanna and president, India Ability Para Sports Academy, KK Singhal were also present.
