Bhubaneshwar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lauded the performance of Odisha athletes in the 24th National Para Athletics Championships which concluded at the Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday evening.
The 40-member Odisha contingent added 8 medals on the final day to aggregate 17 medals, including 5 gold, in the championship. Odisha finished ninth in the medals tally.

Haryana topped with 95 medals, including 39 gold, 31 silver and 25 bronze. Tamil Nadu were placed second with 51 medals (14 gold, 20 silver, 17 bronze), and Gujarat third with 30 medals (14 gold, 11 silver, 5 bronze).
“My heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants. The determination within you to ‘never accept defeat’ is a great source of inspiration for all of us. The success you have achieved by overcoming physical limitations proves that nothing is impossible in the face of willpower,” said Majhi, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, and presented the trophies.
“I am especially proud of the stellar performance by the 40-member contingent from Odisha. I firmly believe that our para athletes will bring glory to Odisha on the world stage in the coming days,” Majhi added.
