Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para-athletes made the state proud on the second day of the 20th National Para Athletics Championships at the Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday.
Jayanti Behera won the gold medal in the women’s 100 metres T-47 category. She clocked 12.92 seconds.
Earlier, visually-impaired cricketer and para-athlete Pankaj Bhue won the first medal for the state.
Pankaj won the bronze in the men’s 100 metres T-13 category with a timing of 12.17 seconds.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik handed Jayanti a cash award of Rs 15 lakh for winning three medals in the recently held World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai.
She won silver in the 200 metres event, and bronze in the 100 and 400 metres.
