New Delhi: Raninder Singh, president of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), called for boycotting the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham if shooting sport is not reinstated.
Raninder said he will formally write a letter to the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) giving the boycott call.
“Within a day or two, I am going to write to the Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and will urge them to boycott the 2022 CWG if shooting is not re-included in the games,” the NRAI chief said.
In recently concluded Gold Coast Games, the Indian shooting squad had bagged 16 medals, including seven gold.
Shooting has been excluded from the 2022 edition of the Commonwealth Games citing logistical issues.
