Bhubaneswar: The Odisha under-19 girls’ team claimed silver medal in the 67th National School Games Rugby Championship held in Pune.
The tournament, organised by National School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, saw Bihar clinching a double crown.
Bihar defeated Odisha 27-7 in the women’s final and hosts Maharashtra in the boys’ title-round clash.
Odisha girls’ team, fielded by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), comprised of 7 from Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, 3 from Baripada HS School (Mayurbhanj) and 2 from Balasore.
The girls qualified for the final by winning three matches and losing one in the league stage.
In the knockout stage, Odisha trounced Rajasthan 27-0 in the quarterfinals and Chhattisgarh 36-0 in the semifinals.
