National Women’s Hockey League: Odisha Overcome Mizoram 2-0

Ranchi: Odisha defeated got the better of Mizoram 2-0 in the National Women’s Hockey League at Ranchi on Thursday.

After a goalless opening quarter, Pratibha Ekka handed Odisha the lead with a field goal in the 25th minute.

Karuna Minz doubled Odisha’s lead in the 52nd minute with another field goal to seal victory.

Odisha had beaten Haryana 4-1 on the opening day of the tournament, nine days ago.

Eight teams are taking part in the prestigious National Women’s Hockey League, based on their performance in the 14th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship.

Odisha apart, the other participating teams are – Haryana, Maharashtra, hosts Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Mizoram and Manipur.
