New Delhi: Naveen Patnaik is among five chief ministers, who also hold the Home portfolio in their respective states, to have skipped the Union Home Ministry’s Chintan Shivir on internal security.
The other four CMs of non-BJP states who didn’t attend the two-day conclave at Haryana’s Surajkund were Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) and MK Stalin (Tamil Nadu).
However, chief ministers of Kerala (Pinarayi Vijayan) and Punjab (Bhagwant Mann) did attend Friday’s session.
Instead of CMs, the five non-BJP state governments deputed DGP, Additional Chief Secretary or a junior minister to attend the conclave which held detailed discussions on cyber and information security, enhancing conviction rate, drug trafficking, national security and border management issues.
Odisha was represented by minister of state (independent charge) Tushar Kanti Behera, reported The New Indian Express.
The chief ministers of Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma), UP (Yogi Adityanath), Tripura (Manik Saha), Uttarakhand (Pushkar Singh Dhami), Goa (Pramod Sawant) and Sikkim (Prem Singh Tamang) addressed the delegates.
Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya were represented by their respective Home ministers Tamradhwaj Sahu and Lakhmen Rympui.
