Naveen Announces Govt Medical College In Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: Based on the second set of visit reports of Mo Sarkar teams to the six districts, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced that the state government will set up a medical college and hospital at the district headquarters hospital premises in Kandhamal district.

He said the number of beds in the proposed medical college would be increased to 500 while a composite campus would be planned.

The Chief Minister also made the following announcements regarding the district headquarters hospitals in Boudh, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Nuapada districts respectively:

Boudh District Hospital
—The Boudh district administration will hand over the jail land in a month. it will be utilised for a new 200-bedded district hospital.
—A special team of doctors will visit Harbhanga block to study chronic kidney diseases.
—The state government will provide one ambulance and one Mahaprayan vehicle.

Nayagarh District Hospital
—The bed strength of the district headquarters hospital will be increased to 250.
—There will be an additional building with 100 beds.
— The state government will provide two ambulances and one Mahaprayan vehicle.

Kalahandi District Hospital
—Construction of a new building for an additional 100 beds.
— The state government will provide three ambulances and two Mahaprayan vehicles.

Rayagada District Hospital
—Water supply and construction of staff quarters at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kashipur.
— The state government will provide four ambulances and one Mahaprayan vehicle.

Nuapada District Hospital
— The state government will provide one ambulance and one Mahaprayan vehicle.

The other announcements by the Chief Minister are as follows:

—All district headquarters hospitals to have attendant rest shed.
—Rs 15 lakh will be provided to all Rogi Kalyan Samitis from the Chief Minster’s Relief Fund for patient welfare and innovations.
—Rs 10 lakh will be provided to the district Superintendents of Police (SPs) for the promotion of blood donation activities in Nuapada, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh districts.

The Chief Minister said that being an empowerment initiative, Mo Sarkar will be further strengthened and expanded to five departments by December 15 and the remaining departments by March 5 next year.
