Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved 9 posts for the newly formed Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) at Jharsuguda.
Extending his approval to the ITDA, which has been formed by including Laikera and Kirimera blocks of Jharsuguda district under tribal sub-plan (TSP), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said it would give a boost to tribal welfare schemes in all villages of the two blocks.
The posts approved by the chief minister included one project administrator, one special officer, one assistant executive engineer, one assistant engineer, one accountant, one head clerk, one stenographer, one senior clerk and one junior clerk.
While Laikera has 51.78% population of tribals, Kirimera block has 18.46%. Gond, Bhuyam and Kisan communities comprise most of the tribal population in the two blocks. Besides, Munda, Kohl, Oraoon, Sabar, Kharia and Sara tribals also inhabit in the area.
It may be noted that the Central government had given its approval for opening the new ITDA with headquarters in Jharsuguda in November last year. The state government had requested the Centre for the same in November 2017.
As many as 119 blocks in 13 districts have been identified under TSP in Odisha, while 22 ITDAs are operational there.
