Puri: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved five projects worth Rs 265 crore for the development of Puri.
A high level meeting, chaired by Naveen Patnaik to develop the foundation of Puri was held at the Lok Sewa Bhavan.
Lakhs of devotees from all over the world come to Puri for a darshan of Lord Jagannath. The projects will ensure better facilities and services to them.
It was decided in the meeting that 1,250 houses for shops will be constructed at the Municipality Market in Puri.
Besides, parking facilities will be widened at the old jail premises. As many as 400 cars can be parked there. Jatrika premises will also be developed.
The Collector’s office and other government offices in Puri will be constructed under one roof, following which, it will be easier for the public to do all the official work.
It was also decided in the meeting that Acharya Harihara square road will be expanded.
All these works will be executed by the Works Department and Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited.
