Bhubaneswar: As many as 2,836 mini anganwadis would be upgraded to anganwadi kendras in Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal in this regard on Monday.
According to a release for chief minister’s office, out of 74154 anganwadi kendras in the state, 10416 were mini anganwadi kendras. Of the mini anganwadi kendras, 2,836 have been upgraded.
The Chief Minister, who has been emphasising on health and wellbeing of women and children, had earlier directed the department concerned for upgradation.
In order to ensure smooth operation of the new anganwadi centres, the government has created 114 supervisor posts. Besides, an anganwadi helper will be appointed to assist anganwadi worker in every anganwadi kendra.
The government has also made the provision of additional funds for management of anganwadis including medicines, infrastructure and administrative expenses. The government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 18,75,41,440 annually in this regard.
