Naveen Tweets To Keep Earth Healthy

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World Oceans Day 2019 on Saturday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called on the people to pledge to keep the earth healthy for sustainable use.

“Oceans are lifelines for our planet as they provide most of the oxygen we breathe, the source of water that sustains life on Earth, the major source of food and play a critical part in regulating climate,” the Chief Minister said in a message on his Twitter handle.

The UN General Assembly has designated June 8 as World Oceans Day to raise global awareness of the challenges faced by the world population in connection to oceans. The day recognizes the important contribution of sustainable development and the management of resources and the uses of the oceans and seas for international development goals, including those contained in the United Nations Millennium Declaration.

The theme for the World Oceans Day 2019 is “Gender and Oceans”.
