Bengaluru: Indian was once again recognised on the world stage of music when Ricky Kej bagged his third Grammy Award on Monday.
The Bengaluru-based Indian music composer and producer won the award for the album ‘Divine Tides’ with rock legend Stewart Copeland in the Best Immersive Audio Album category.
Kej, now 41, became youngest Indian to win a Grammy in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Samsara’. The “extremely grateful and speechless” Ricky “dedicated” his third Grammy Award to India.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Ricky for the feat.
“Congratulate Indian music composer and producer, Mr @rickykej on winning his third #GrammyAward for his album ‘Divine Tides’ in Best Immersive Audio Album category. May you continue to spread awareness to save our environment through your music,” Naveen tweeted.
‘Divine Tides’, Ricky’s collaborative project with Copeland, had won another Grammy for Best New Age Album in 2022.
Copeland, a 5-time Grammy-winning American musician and composer, is the founder and drummer of British rock group ‘The Police’, which has sold over 75 million albums worldwide.
Divine Tides – which features artists from around the world — is a tribute to our magnificent natural world. The critically-acclaimed album contains 9 songs and 8 music videos which were filmed around the world ranging from the raw beauty of Indian Himalayas to icy forests of Spain.
